It's New Year's Day! For many, that means nursing a killer hangover (and for some, let's be honest: a little "hair of the dog" remedy). For others, it's a Bowl Game afternoon, filled with couches, party snacks and football.
ESPN Zone in Times Square has figured out how to combine these two very different post-New Year's Eve activities -- and make a profit off of it -- with the ESPN Ultimate Couch Potato Contest.
These competitors have got the right idea for how to spend New Year's Day -- sit in ESPN Zone, drink some beer, kick your feet up on a reclining chair, and watch the day's Bowl games on the numerous big screen TVs that fill the walls of the restaurant. It's a tradition that started in Chicago almost a decade ago, then spread to New York a couple of years ago, and Baltimore just last year where the longest sitting record was set there by a WOMAN with a time of 70 hours and 45 seconds!
Sorry, it's too late for you to get in on the competition, but you can be just as lazy as a spectator! The party starts at 11am, so if you can drag your hungover self out of bed and out to Times Square, head on over. You'll feel better after a beer. I promise... :)
Happy New Year!
